Africa Center Hong Kong
Bridging Africa & Asia: Creative Connections & Shared Value in Hong Kong
What we aim
ACHK is providing a creative hub and platform that fosters value-creating interactions between African and non-African communities in Asia. It rebrands blackness by challenging negative stereotypes, promotes African solutions to global challenges, and hosts cultural events, literature book clubs, and community programs to build empathy, diversity, and equal footing for Africa.
-
Rebranding Blackness
Africa Center Hong Kong challenges the stereotype linking Blackness with danger or vulnerability. It promotes accurate, positive representations to help people appreciate and benefit from authentic Black identities and experiences.
-
Connecting Communities
The center aims to become Asia’s largest uniquely African platform, building inclusive communities across ethnic groups, gender, and socio-economic backgrounds while facilitating meaningful value-exchange among them.
-
Black Consciousness
It champions an African perspective, raising awareness of colonial power dynamics and the importance of self-love. The center emphasizes the critical value of African viewpoints in today’s uncertain world.

I value the “African Literature Book Club” as I value Women’s Day and Black History Month because African literature deserves a spotlight.
